Why This Center Is Necessary
HIV/AIDS continues to be a public health crisis for the transgender community. Twenty-five years into the epidemic, researchers are only beginning to substantiate what the community has experienced: HIV prevalence among the highest in the country, exceeding 27% overall for women and reaching as high as 56% in some populations. The CoE is committed to making the best knowledge and practices accessible to providers, clinicians, consumers, researchers, and others involved in HIV prevention programs and the care and treatment of transgender persons living with HIV.
